The Board of Madison County Commissioners will be accepting applications until filled for the position or positions of part time/fill in clerical help at various County offices in Virginia City, Montana.  This position will begin with an hourly wage of $14.76 with no guarantee on the number of hours per month.  Applicants must be flexible and available to work with very little notice.  Benefits will accumulate according to the Madison County Personnel Policy based on eligibility.  Please contact the Commissioners’ Office at (406) 843-4277, or email madco@madison.mt.gov for an application and job description. Madison County is accepting applications until filled for one short term custodial employee to work evenings at the Courthouse and other county offices in Virginia City, Montana.  Typical work days are Monday through Friday; 4-6 hours per day (may vary).  Additional hours may be worked as requested.  The hourly wage will begin at $13.78.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a full-time Communications Officer position.  The salary for this position is 14.67 per hour with county medical benefits.

Duties and responsibilities include performing the duties of a Communications officer at the Madison County PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) in Virginia City.  The position is responsible to the public, law enforcement and first responders. Must have good phone and communication skills. Must be able to type at least 40 wpm.

This position requires the applicant to be able to obey rules, regulations and follow instruction from superiors.  Applicant must show a desire to work with the public, show self-initiative, demonstrate a high degree of integrity, maturity and confidentiality.  The work week is a minimum of 30 hours and includes weekends and holidays.  Due to the nature of the job, work hour flexibility with ability to work any shift (late shift, swing shift or day shift) is necessary.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and of good moral character; successfully pass an oral interview, background investigation plus any other requirements which may be deemed necessary to perform the duties of a Communications officer, including successful completion of the Montana Basic Communication Officer Academy.  Applicants for this position must have the knowledge and ability to maintain accurate record keeping systems and possess basic computer knowledge. The Madison County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a full-time deputy sheriff position.  The salary for this position is $21.32 per hour with county medical benefits.

Duties and responsibilities include performing the duties of a deputy sheriff as prescribed by Montana State Statute.  This includes responding to calls from citizens for service in a variety of law enforcement assignments, being able to deal with stressful situations in all types of weather and work hours, perform quality and detailed work products, communicate effectively with others and be physically fit in order to deal with the hazards of the job which includes the apprehension of suspects in crimes.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a full-time detention officer position.  The salary for this position is $14.76 per hour with county medical benefits.

Duties and responsibilities include performing the duties of a detention officer at the Madison County Holding Facility in Virginia City.  The position is responsible to the public as well as for the inmates.  Detention officers perform all aspects of inmate supervision, ensuring all inmate basic needs are met.

This position requires the applicant to be able to obey rules, regulations and follow instruction from superiors.  They must show a desire to work with the public, show self-initiative, demonstrate a high degree of integrity, maturity and confidentiality.  The work week is 40 hours and includes weekends.  Due to the nature of the job, work hour flexibility and some on-call work is possible.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and of good moral character; successfully pass an oral interview, background investigation plus any other requirements which may be deemed necessary to perform the duties of a detention officer, including successful completion of the Montana Basic Detention Officer Academy.  Applicants for this position must have the knowledge and ability to maintain accurate record keeping systems and possess basic computer knowledge. Applicants must be a resident of Madison County.
